Tip of the Month - July
Using the Right Flash

The flash that comes attached to your camera, while sufficient for everyday shots, plays a trick on your shadowing that will prevent that professional quality look. The best thing to do is to get a camera shoe flash mount and a separate flash. Once you have that, never point the flash directly at the subject, as this will cause horribly prominent shadows. Instead, bounce the flash off of something light in color, such as a white wall, ceiling or table cloth. You'll be surprised at the amazing difference, especially in low-light situations. Bouncing the flash will brighten almost any dark room.

Use the Right Camera
If you really want your photographs to look professional, then you'd probably better stop using a point and shoot camera. They just don't have the same quality results as a digital SLR camera. I personally use a Canon Digital Rebel XT SLR camera.  Even just using the automatic functions will help your pictures to come out crisp and well focused. And you can virtually eliminate those horrible fussy photos that result from the slightest movement of the hand. They're expensive and will take a little saving up, but totally worth it to capture those priceless moments.

First Wedding
Welcome to my new photography blog. Periodically I will blog about my photo taking experiences, whether it be cute kids, fun families or just interesting moments. And, once a month I will provide a photo tip for my fellow photography enthusiasts that will help you improve the quality of your photos at home.

Last weekend I had an awesome experience with my first wedding.  While some of my fellow entrepreneurs may not agree with the fact that I'm talking about the first wedding I officially did pictures for, I think it helps my future clientèle to know that I can provide the quality photography they're looking for. Besides, everyone must start somewhere. Every small business owner had their first client at some point. And, while I've already had a number of clients for various different photo sessions, last weekend was my first wedding.

The couple is amazing. They were well aware that it was my first wedding and I couldn't have asked for a better duo. They continued to express their confidence in me, which I found amazing because the day was about them, not me, but they found the time to let me know that they were very pleased with my work. But, let's face it, it didn't hurt for me to hear it. I'll be honest, doing a wedding is intimidating because you can't redo the photos - it's a one time shot.

Thankfully, I am very pleased with the results. I'm still processing the pictures. Within the next few weeks some of them will appear in my portfolio.  I can hardly wait to share them with the clients and with potential clients here on the website.

I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to do something I genuinely love. And to be a part of so many lives. As my slogan says "moments of a lifetime, captured for eternity." That's the service I strive to provide for each and every client. And it's a joy to see and hear the appreciation and compliments.
